The most striking meadow walk in our country is Ali Bedni. First, the mountain vistas. Seeing Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti emerge directly from the meadows is a sight to behold. When these mountains rise, you can see not just the summits but the entire face, almost 6,000–7,000 feet of it, rising right in front of you!

Near the end of the hike, you descend to Wan. The temple of Latu Devta, surrounded by massive Cyprus trees, is one of the region’s most well-known landmarks. It is located on the route of the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra. It’s a thrilling walk to Bedni Bugyal and Ali! You are tempted to remove your shoes and feel the carpet against your skin on the first walk to Ali. Another destination in this meadow country with a view of the western valley is the Bedni Bugyal. The majestic Chaukhamba range’s other high risers come into view as you ascend the Bedni Top.

On this trek, even the campsites provide a great deal of variation: Abin Kharak, Didna, and Gheroli Patal are all very different.

There is nothing like the surprise of arriving in Ali Bugyal after hiking through thick forest. There is an endless clearing as soon as you emerge from the shadows of the forest. Even the river crossings are completed twice, each time showcasing a completely different Neel Ganga River landscape.
